Featuring:
The JayHawks THE JAYHAWKS
Keying off a three-album, expanded-edition set reissue this summer, nationally acclaimed band The Jayhawks will reunite to headline the day of recovery rock at HazelFest. The Jayhawks became one of the most important bands of the 1980s postpunk era by forging a rootsy sound that wasn't quite rock or country. Led by singer-songwriter Gary Louris, who in 2012 shared with fans that he had begun his recovery from addiction, this beloved and iconic Minnesota band soared to heights few ever achieve while winning the hearts and minds of numerous critics, fans, and peers in the process.
Trapper Schoepp and The Shades TRAPPER SCHOEPP AND THE SHADES
Trapper Schoepp has the ear of a troubadour, the eye of a journalist, and the heart of a young poet. Themes ranging from pride of place to love and adventure shine with surprisingly sophisticated metaphors for a songwriter still in his early 20's. Trapper and his brother, Tanner, grew up harmonizing with each other in rural Wisconsin. Now, their Milwaukee band is bringing its rock-, folk-, and country-tinged brand of Americana music to cities everywhere, touring with the likes of the Old 97's, the BoDeans, and The Wallflowers.
Communist Daughters COMMUNIST DAUGHTER
In the mid-2000s, Twin Cities musician Johnny Solomon received critical national praise, but the rising success of his band masked his struggle with addiction, which quickly eclipsed his career. It wasn't until he met a young singer named Molly Moore that his songs became the beginning of something new --Johnny's recovery and a band called Communist Daughter. In 2011, they released their debut album, Soundtrack to the End, making a splash with recordings featured on the TV show Grey's Anatomy. Now with a sophomore album out, the band is returning to the HazelFest stage a second time.
Davina and the Vagabonds DAVINA AND THE VAGABONDS
Davina Sowers leads this Minneapolis band that has caused a stir on the national blues scene by combining New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, and tender gospel, fueled by a truly unique voice, great piano, and fun horns. Davina also brings to the HazelFest stage an infectious presence that will leave everyone with a smile. While her music has been compared to Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Billie Holiday, and even Betty Boop, the comparisons don't suffice--Davina is a true original.

Bring your family for the day. Tickets $20 in advance or $30 at the door. Children 12 and under free.
