Description:
Dr. Troy Howell is a board certified Psychiatrist who has been in practice at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital since 2009. Dr. Howell has been involved in multiple areas of mental health treatment within James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital. He was initially hired to work in the Primary Care Mental Health Initiative. He eventually became the Lead Psychiatrist there. He has also worked at the Brooksville CBOC (Community Based Outpatient Clinic), the PTSD clinic, Mental Health Outpatient clinic and, now, the Suicide prevention team. He was promoted last year to the Suicide Prevention Coordinator for James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital. In his practice as the Suicide Prevention Coordinator, he leads a team of multidisciplinary case managers who provide identification, monitoring and care of High Risk for Suicide Veterans. He also runs the Transitional Outpatient Clinic for High Risk for Suicide Veterans within the Suicide Prevention Team. He, along with the team, responds to Veterans’ Crisis Line Referrals and assures that patient in need of treatment are assisted in receiving care.
